How can one differentiate between PICT (Photo Induced Intramolecular Charge Transfer) and TICT (Twisted Intramolecular Charge Transfer)? In both cases their is red shift in fluorescence intensity along with decrease in quantum yield with increase in solvent polarity.
I could suppose carefully that You may increase the viscosity of solvent to remove TICT...
thanks for your suggestion Dr Eugene sir. Now please tell me that how can it affect the fluorscenece behavior. Changing viscosity can have similar effect on both type of ICT processes.
Dear Gopal! I am not top specialist no the problem of TICT. But I know from personal experience that in excited electronic state the structural conformers are more probable in compare to ground state. If one use solid solvent (polymer or low temperature) the similar spatial structured transitions can be slow down. Other way to slow down TICT process is variation of solvent polarity (I believe You are aware it). If no change takes place in absorption spectra it possible to use polarisation measurement of luminescence to differ contribution from TICT and PICT. In the last I can advice You link to NASA free cite results on similar investigation.
