I am working on a microplate-based method to measure the activity of samples. This particular method was developed with rapid sample throughput in mind, and can assay from one to eight samples per run. My problem is that the plate layout for my method differs for each possible value of the number of samples in the run, and I'm not sure how to design an experiment for evaluating the method for accuracy and precision that takes these differing plate layout into account. The only thing I can think of is to treat each layout as a separate method and do separate evaluations, but this seems impractical because of the number of layouts. Failing this, I am unsure how I might come up with an experimental design appropriate for the evaluation of my method.
