Hello, researchers; I am currently working on designing a multi-band rectangular patch antenna and I am using a microstrip line for feeding. I have attempted to achieve circular polarization by truncating the corners of the patch, but unfortunately, it has not worked as expected. Could you kindly suggest methods or approaches that could help me successfully achieve circular polarization in this design? Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The feed to the patch should be so that it excites currents parallel to one side of the patch. This mode of excitation can be decomposed into two modes with diagonal currents. Cutting the corners changes the resonant frequency of one of these modes. The feed frequency should be midway between the two frequencies, and the corner should be cut off enough so that separation between the two resonant frequencies is such that at the feed frequency the phase of each is 45 degrees from the feed signal, one +45 degrees and the other -45 degrees, so that they are 90 degrees out of phase with each other. I think this corresponds to the centre frequency being at the 3dB point of each of the resonances.
