I want to calculate the enthaly of formation for doped system. My system is LaVO4 which is 4 formula unit system contains total 24 atoms. I made it 2*2*1 supercell which contains 96 atoms. After that I replaced 1 La atom by Eu atom. Now I calculated the enthalpy of formation of this doped system.
I calculated enthalpy of formation in the following ways:
(1) La16V16O64 + Eu= La15EuV16O64 +La
∆Hf = H(Product) - H(Reactant)
(2) 15(La)+1(Eu)+16(V)+32O2 = La15EuV16O64
∆Hf = H(Product) - H(Reactant)
If method (1) is correct then how will calculate the enthalpy of formation of pure system(LaVO4) without doping ?
I am getting enthalpy of formation very different from both methods from (1) method -3.96 eV and from (2) method -307.01 eV.
