I am doing a cross-sectional study on audiology patients in South Africa. As I cannot find information regarding the population size, does anyone have any suggestions on how to calculate a possible sample size?
The study will only consist of one population i.e. audiology patients, however will later need to compare scores obtained state vs private patients. Is there a way I can calculate a good sample size which will provide appropriate generalization?

In this case, we had better determine the type of hypothesis ( sample size based on proportion).
According to Louw, Christine, Robert H. Eikelboom, and Jannie Hugo. "Prevalence of hearing loss at primary health care clinics in South Africa." African health sciences 18.2 (2018): 313-320.
- The expected proportion is 17.5%.
- population size for South Africa is 57,725,600.
- Deviation from the expected proportion: we assume 5%.
- Confidence level = 95%
and calculate on R or STATCALC software.
