As per Darcy’s approach, the porous medium is supposed to be fully saturated with the fluid of interest (groundwater) and most importantly, there should NOT be the presence of fluid-fluid interfaces within the pore-volume as the pore-fluid is NOT supposed to consist of more than one fluid (groundwater).
Given this background, how come, are we able to conveniently and ocmfortably extend the single-phase Darcy’s law to describe multI-phase fluid flow through a porous medium?
