Thermal comfort is one of the major aims of building services. According to the international standard EN ISO 7730, thermal comfort is: “…that condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment”. Simply, it is the comfortable condition where a person is not feeling too hot or too cold .
Thermal comfort can be defined as (that condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment) and there are three important factors affecting on it which are Physiological factors (such as age, activity, sex and health), Insulating factor due to clothing, and Environmental factors (dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, air motion and surrounding surface temperature).
I can say that my office is very uncomfortable in summer because there is no thermal insulation or sun breezes without adding that it is well oriented towards the sun (East-West), so intense radiation and great heat which really requires the continued use of air conditioning.
