Perhaps it would be appropriate to provide a little more information. What remote signal is available? What GIS software do you use? and finally what kind of counter mapping want to do.
I am using Q GIS and Arc GIS soft wares . I am working in the ecology of fragmented lateritic biotope in Kerala, India . I need information about counter mapping
I understand trying to protect these wetlands. I really do not know the figures of protection in Kerala (India).
But at least once selected the features that define the biotope to protect, you can try to identify them using the available satellite images and mark the areas of greatest interest.
If you have infrared you can map images of areas of higher vegetation density (humidity). And within the visible spectrum can try to manually identify and map areas considered to be interesting.
I hope I can be helped by another participant better than me. We define vulnerability maps of historical heritage, but it did not use remote sensors only orthophotos.
