Ideally it should be inert, porous and of high surface area for better distribution of enzyme, and, if possible, enhance the enzyme activity.

The catalyst support should strongly attach to the enzyme. Depending on the temperature of your bio diesel process a bio polymer might be produced with the enzyme attached chemically. The polymer should withstand any temperature that would not deactivate the enzyme.

Ceramic catalyst support is possible, but gives dust and is less strongly attached to enzymes.
