Xylem embolism is a phenomenon observed under water deficit conditions in many plant species. It occurs mainly due to cavitation or bubble effect inside xylem vessel and prevent water movement across the plant. What is the rate of xylem embolism recovery in tree species.

Hi,
we have measured intensively xylem embolism in Hevea during the recent years with Thai colleagues (see publications on my page). Latex is actually not a problem, and we have successfully used the classical techniques to measure embolism (Xyl'em apparatus, Cavitron, Air-injection). It is important to remove the bark to minimize the latex exudation. We found no evidence for xylem refilling in this species as far as I know.
