As it is known that the electron temperature Te is a vital parameter to describe plasmas properties and it is higher than the neutral temperature Tg in cold plasma so that the LTE is no longer valid. So, the diagnosis of Te by using the LTE approximation method is not credible.

Many studies employed Optical emission spectroscopy and electron cyclotron emission to measure the electron temperature.
In general you have many temperatures in a nonthermal plasma, such as electron, ion and Doppler temperature. When you say THE electron temperature, you assume you have a Maxwellian electron velocity distribution governed by a single T. This may not be true in nonthermal plasmas, e.g. you might have a non-maxwellian hot electon distribution. So the question is what do you want to do with the 'electron temperature'?
Thank you S. Alexiou for your response. Yes, there is a spread of temperature, velocity within the non-thermal plasma resulting in different distribution functions. My main intention to measure this is to use it for antimicrobial activities. So, how significantly does such Maxwellian distribution assumption affect the case of non- Maxwellian hot electron distribution?
Wait, what plasma are you talking about? Medical plasma(antimicrobial?) or ionized atoms? My answer is only relevant to the second case. How significant is a non-Maxwellian distribution depends on what you are doing. For instance hot electrons can produce effects that ordinary electrons cannot.
S. Alexiou I am interested in medical plasmas as I have designed a simple plasma jet device that can work at atmospheric pressure. I characterize this plasma electrically. I am concerned that how reliable it is to use local thermal equilibrium approximation when the cold plasmas itself contains a variety of temperature inside it. What method could give us the best calculation?
