overall plants can be cultivated in non-origin areas under protected conditions, eventually in soilless media. Tomato crops is an emblematic example of a 'high-tech' agriculture (e.g. up to 200 kg/m2 with inputs of light and CO2, etc.). This aim, however, is more expensive, while to my opinion the future trends should be producing food with lower inputs, lower production costs and higher sustainability for the environment, operators and consumers.

Gregory: Israel has a lot of experience in optimising production in dry areas. There are more methods (some very old, some brand new). I think a lot more can be done to transfer those techniques - raising food production. That's another point to take into account when creating models.
I agree with Giovanni: with lower inputs and production costs and higher sustainability for the environment and people.
