i am unable to understand how to do antifouling test for a glass surface which is superhydrophilic for water. what types of oil we can use for this test, and what are the different things should be consider if surface is showing antifouling activity?
in super hydrophobic and super hydrophilic surfaces, two agents are very importany: i) surface roughness and ii) UV light. for roughness there are two factor, first natural factors and second artificial factors. artificial factors are such as TMPSI and FAS. inorganic material such as TiO2 . SiO2 ,,, naturally are hydrophilic. for changing to super hyrophobic, these surface should be rough and be in dark invorment. then antifouling, self cleaning, high corrosion resistance and other property will be obtain.
I see that you are looking for methodology, not for one particular hydrophobic texture. Do not try to reinvent the weel, look for industrial norms, where antifouling surfaces & materials are used and developed, that might be from marine coatings, to food processing industry, electronic (touchscreen, TV), detergents, enzyme, laundry, commercial printing, all of the above does have its own standards, and your research will be LOT more credible, if you use something established to characterize your novel surface as opposed to developing some half-baked novel method AND novel surface...
