There is one data set collected from teachers on principal leadership style (independent variable) and other data set is collected from students about their psychological wellbeing (dependent variable). I am facing difficulty in merging the data in spss and what kind of analysis can be computed to examine the impact.
Assuming you have multiple students for each teacher, this is a multi-level design with students (level 1) nested in teachers (level 2). There are a number of ways to analyze these data, depending on what you wish to know. Perhaps the simplest approach is to correlate the teacher style with the mean of each teacher's students. This is aggregating the level 1 student data to level 2. What you more frequently see in peer-reviewed journals is the use of multi-level modeling in which data are analyzed using methods that can deal with the 2-level structure in your data. This allows more flexibility in your analysis, and allows you to test additional things.
You may use many statistical techniques to solve this case. Mixed models in SPSS or any other statistical package can do the needed analysis.

I am looking for impact of principal leadership on students' outcomes. One set of data will be collected from teachers on principal leadership practices using various variables and another data set will be collected from students using different variables. So can merge the data in spss and what kind of analysis can be done.
