To establishment wind break is one of the methods for preventing of wind erosion. In this way the number of wind break rows and distance depends upon its permeability. determination of the permeability for artificial wind break is simple, But it is difficult for biological wind break, Because we do not know how to grow trees and plants in the future. If anybody has research in this way, i would be grateful if help me in this subject.
There is a law called Leonardo's rule.
It puts growth of trees into relation with the wind.

the largest problem with permeability of rows of trees, single, multiple, multiple staggered planted, is the changing of the resulting permeability with height. It then becomes important to know whether the protection is from physical damage of crops by wind, for erosion reduction, for protection from heat, protection from pollution, protection from blown soil.
If it is soil protection from erosion, then the biomass distribution on the trees near the surface becomes very important because any tunneling of air below/through the trees/plants material near the surface influences wind reduction very negatively.
Although optical permeability observations do exist, there remains the tough problem not only with height but also with the width of the angle of attack. The wind's angle with the tree row changes permeability enormously and so wind reduction also and of course even more so in multi-row trees in one break itself.
In the literature wind protection/reduction is most often expressed in tree heights, independent of height and also independent of permeability when this is not below say 30% or above 70% for the wind direction concerned. Very high density breaks cause turbulence generated by the break which can be very damaging, while too open breaks obviously are of no use.
As to measurements, wind measurements in the open and behind a break is still the best measure for actual permeability determination which can be reduced near the bottom by rows of trees of diminishing height in front of the main row and high biomass near the surface. Such a design also forces more air over the breaks with less turbulence.
Also be aware that soils differ enormously in erodibility by wind,depending on their composition, surface condition and water content (and of course any surface cover).
