Research students in countries like India often have great research idea but many times cannot fulfil their dream because of lack of facilities in institutes like the absence of software licences, lack of good computers, machinery etc. What can the global research community do to help these students?
Students must ask for funding by seeking or applying for fellowships/sponsorships from international agencies like Ford Foundation and Fulbright among other global funding institutions.
I think what they need are mentors who are willing to help them academically and financially.

I would like to add the global research community expects that researchers or students initiate the process by applying for funding very solid and competitive research projects.
Doc, El-Aswad, those funding agencies have a lot of requirements that do not favour young researchers.
Well, the question does not identify the age of research students. In case of young researchers, they should display their competence in applying for project or, as you dear Bahtilla mentioned, rely on mentors for help. In this case it will be a team work headed by the mentor. Thank you
The global research community often exploits 3rd world countries. Researchers (not neccessarily only students) often do all the work for the research and are seldom included as authors. Is that ethical “help”?
