During my research I have tested the cell proliferation and viability of normal cell line using 4 crude extracts that obtained from a tropical fruit by using MTT assay, and the extracts act to inhibit the proliferation of the cell at different IC50 varying between (200ug/ml and 500ug/ml) then when I went through flow cytometry to check by which mechanism the anti-proliferation had happened using (annexin V/PI dual stianing) and the result showed no significant means that all the cells still alive. Then how the cells can be stopped from the proliferation without any apoptosis or necrosis signs ? I have read about the cytotoxic and cytostatic effect of some drugs that some drugs can do a massive damage to the cells while some can only arrest the cell from being proliferated without killing the cells

How can we explain that?

Thanks ahead
