That is an interesting question, were the use of the concept of Service Level Agreement (SLA) could be applied.

The use of a business process through services (SLAs), accessed by different actors with different views of a process, provides adaptability the process. This approach assumes that processes use services as interfaces, defined in a way that facilitate the alignment to the enterprise architecture.

I would put SLA with policy.

Under the service offering, I would suggest using value stream mapping and LEAN methods to drive out cost and waste in the mainline and supporting business processes. Once process optimization occurs, it sets the stage for application rationalization and re-alignment of IT assets to meet the service level agreements in place, or meet the expectations of future SLA requirements. In that sense, the EA approach maintains a service focus, categorizes and maintains business processes (possibly standardizing them for transferability into a BPO context) while remaining IT-aware.
