How can researchers who answer controversial questions protect themselves from undesired responses to their work? How? Why? My answer: I try to be as transparent as possible and also as respectful as possible. I follow the golden rule(treat others how I would like to be treated) and I routinely state my commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Plus I mention that I need a direct warning to realize I am offending people because of my impaired social judgment due to my autism.
