The glass is a simple one ( no filter glass or coloured one). It is needed for measurements pertaining to industries. The thickness is around 1.1 mm ( 1 metre X 100 metre X 1.1 millimetre). The problem is I need a method to hang the glass at a distance of say 800 m from the ground for some measurements ahead. Everytime I try to hang it using some clampers, the glass is breaking at the point of pressure. Is there any other method that can be suggested for this problem so that the glass does not break or get destroyed at that particular point? Also it would be wonderful if I could measure the maximum tension/force this glass can bear using some measurement technique. The way how glass sheet is hanging had a key influence to glass breaking points. Float glass mechanical strenght parameters you can find in the glass data sheets.
