I can not seem to find any field(variable type) where I can enable multiple choices to be selected. I understand, I can make a group field and then put in check boxes for all my responses or I could just give all possible combinations of the responses e.g.
1. A only
2. B only
3. C only
4. A and B only
5. A and C only
6. B and C only
but if I have 10 possible responses than it makes it very cumbersome to put in all the combinations. So is there any other way where I can simply enable multiple choices to be selected ?

You can do that by creating a "Checkbox" field for each of the answers that you want choices that you want, then group them, i.e. create a group. In this approach you have pay attention during analysis that these answers are treated as one variable.
The other approach is to create "Comment Legal Values". In your comment you can write the answer choice that you want such "A only", "A and B only", etc. In addition, in the legal values you can add the value that you want each response to means for you data.
