The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially designated every Monday as a sit-at-home day, commencing from August 9th, until the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from prison. This declaration has been consistently observed since its inception, despite the persistent efforts made by governmental bodies and other stakeholders to deter it. For over 100 consecutive Mondays now, the five states within the South East region of Nigeria have experienced a complete shutdown of social and economic activities. This ongoing situation carries significant economic and social implications; however, there is currently a lack of empirical statistical evidence from government agencies or corporate entities to substantiate these effects.
