How can I get a clean FTIR data from CNT network samples? Which mode is better? Should I use microscope or the cabinet? Absorption or reflection? It is really challenging because our ATR is broken. Or What is the most accurate way to deduce if CNT exist and understand it's chacteristics?

Raman spectroscopy can give lot information on carbon nanotubes.
From structure to defect in the tube raman can help. Radial Breathing Mode in raman is more useful with carbon nanotubes
and i am not sure of what can be done with FTIR
Hi, you should remember the FTIR used to detect the carboxylic groups and hydroxylic groups where attached on CNT surface, and you can find in many journals has the fingerprints of the CNTs
If you need to characterize the surface of CNT the FTIR investigation will not best method. As CNT is a absolutely black body it will absorb all lights and general curve will include a lot of noises. The best one is a combination of following methods.
1. Raman spectroscopy - for analysis of degree of graphitization.
2. XPS - for qualitative analysis of functional groups of CNT surface.
3. TPD MS (temperature-programmed desorption with mass spectrometry control) - for quantitative analysis of functional groups of CNT surface.
These methods complement each other and allow you to see the full information about CNT surface.
Thanks for all answers. i have been working on if i can find a single peak or something from FTIR related to CNT but it really absorbs almost everything, whole spectrum, therefore peaks that i observed are very weak so not making sense. Meanwhile, i am considering RAMAN spectroscopy. However, i will kind of embed these CNT samples in a Carbon Loaded Conductive polymer with 23 weight percent. So far i am not sure if RAMAN stock shifts can be distinguished between CNT and Carbon. I am sorry i should have added this information before in the main question but i wanted to have step by step answers. Regards.
Radial Breathing Mode of raman is from radial vibration which is specific to carbon nanotubes so you will find it more useful
best method Raman spectroscopy and the method will give you lot information, also you can use XPS for qualitative analysis of functional groups.
FTIR of Carbon nanotubes better characterize after functionalization. Clear cnt-s better to characterize with Raman spectroscopy
