I am using the open-source Python package, pygfunction, to model a BTES system to meet heating demands in a district heating network. Apart from obtaining fluid temperature profiles inside the borehole and inlet/outlet temperatures, I am interested in investigating the development of temperature outside the bore field in the surrounding soil.
ven though my response is coming quite late, I wanted to ask if you have found a solution to your problem and if you would be willing to share your code with me. I am still in the early stages of using pygfunction and would greatly appreciate any insights or help you could provide. Thank you in advance! Paul
Hi Paul Fleuchaus, unfortunately, I have not been able to dive more into this because of the time crunch of my thesis. But I got the following tips from Dr. Cimmino, who is the creator of pygfunction:
"The package does not directly support the calculation of ground temperatures since they are not useful in the simulation of ground-source heat pump systems.
When g-functions are calculated with the option `'profiles':True`, the g-function object also saves the distribution of loads among the line sources. Theoretically, these could be used as weights for the spatial superposition of the finite line source solution. Then this superimposed solution could be used with load aggregation to follow the temperature variation at a specific coordinate in the ground."
If you are successful with this, I would be highly interested.
