What technology, in terms of nano-scale can I use to determine the common features of a hydrocarbon reservoir? Maybe sensors? Nanoporosity? What else? And how?
In the Lab there are several techniques that probe the micro-nanoscale of reservoir rocks. mainly related to pore sizes and structures (AFM, BET, NMR, etc)
However, I have if you refer to field nanoscale is not always relevant. as the properties change at different scales (cm, meters or km).
Have a look at the nanoparticle work being done at Stanford, e.g. https://pangea.stanford.edu/researchgroups/geothermal/fracture-characterization-enhanced-geothermal-systems-wellbore-and-reservoir-analysis-2009-2012
