I need a UWB system in which I can test a UWB antenna performance. I'm seeking a UWB system for a reasonable price that I, as a person, can afford.
Maybe try some boards by Ettus, USRP B200 is up to 6GHz, it only has 56MHz bandwidth though. You can do a frequency sweep :)
You would need a well calibrated VNA with sufficient dynamic range, coupled to a set of mechanical rigs and rotary tables set in an anechoic chamber to obtain the radiation patterns in both azimuth and elevation planes. Additionally, you may want to measure its polarisation pattern by following Balanis´ approach. Please let me know if you want us to test the antenna in our laboratory.

Thank you Rafael for your kind offer. I do appreciate it. Indeed I am interested in measuring polarization pattern. What I am interested in too, is measuring (or investigating) the influence of the UWB antenna design on a real UWB functioning system. For example if I can figure out how would the antenna influence the bit rate of a simple UWB communication link, that would be great. Any suggestions?
Up there, Milos, kindly suggested Ettus USRP kit, and we already have one in our facility and I'm studying how to make a good use of it.
