I need easy technique(s) to test the properties of briquette fuel such as: density, ash content, bulk density, durability, burning rate and ignition time. Can someone help?
There are various ASTM standards, protocols or techniques for determining the parameters listed in your question.
The ash content can be determined by ASTM standards D3174 or E1755. The bulk density can be determined using weight scale and volumetric lab wear whereas the durability can be determined using the breakage test using analytical sieves.
Lastly, the burning rate and ignition time can be easily determined by TGA analysis under oxidative or non-oxidative mode. In the absence of a TGA, a muffle furnace can be used.
