I want to synthesize high quality Alumina or Alumino-boro-silicate fibers for high temperature applications. Does anybody have the experience in this field and would kindly instruct me on the process? Is it a sol-gel process? How can I make continuous ceramic fibers? Happy new year to you all.

All ceramic fibers are made of melt. Short fibers are obtained by inflating the melt jet air. Long fibers made by drawing the melt through a spinneret. Alumina gives only short fibers. Long fibers are produced from molten glass including borosilicate glass.
