Thank you for your advice, Professor Zhou. But will the product from the reaction of SiO2 and B4C be a hodgepodge glassy material of Si-B-O-C? Why do you think CO2 or CO will be emitted from the reaction system?

Thank you, Saeideh Hosseini. I have a confusion in the purification process for the product. Does the author removed excessive Si with Br2 gas? How is the following reaction controlled? (I mean the operation temperature and operation pressure. ) Si + 2Br2=SiBr4. Why does not Br2 react with SiB4?
