i have hydrogen plasma spectrum and i know it has continuum. i can subtract it by fitting constant or polynomial function. but i do not know which one give me better result.
Several options are available to remove the spectral lines from the spectrum in order to obtain just the continuum. You can either use a low pass filter or a median filter. In Origin you can open "Analysis- Signal Processing- Smooth/ FFT filters " and play with the "Points of Window" value. Check the "Auto Preview" box and adjust PoW until the filtered spectrum is satisfactory. Now you can subtract it.
i did your suggested way but in origin i found another way: Analysis-peak and baseline-peak analysis. we can fit polynomial equation on spectrum or fit constant baseline. i have series problem to choose a valid method for subtract continuum.
