When i solve silver sulfadiazine, SSD, in ammonia, pH increases to about 9.6. How can i have this solution with pH of about 7.4 ? if i solve SSD in NH4OH instead of ammonia, can i decrease pH?
Hi,
Is it soluble in water? If it is then use water as a solvent, else ethyl C2H5OH
Dear Susan
Thanks for answer. It is not soluble in water.
[1] My friend you need a constant pH of 7.4. For this you need a buffer called
PBS[Phosphate buffered saline] 7.4 ( Isotonic with human body)
This is available as powder( mainly) and also in solution form
[2]SSD is practically insoluble in water, in ethanol and in diethyl ether. It is freely soluble in 25 % w/v ammonia solution .
[ 3] Depeding upon the amount of SSD, add the PBS7.4 buffer
[4] If PBS 7.4 is not available, you may prepare it as follows.
There are many different ways to prepare PBS. One of the most common preparations is described below.
For 1 liter of 1X PBS, prepare as follows:
1. Start with 800 ml of distilled water:
2. Add 8 g of NaCl.
3. Add 0.2 g of KCl.
4. Add 1.44 g of Na2HPO4.
5. Add 0.24 g of KH2PO4.
6. Adjust the pH to 7.4 with HCl.
7. Add distilled water to a total volume of 1 liter.
Dear Manohar
Many thanks for your extensive answer. I will try this.
I am seeking a PhD position in the area of Deep Learning, specifically in generative AI. Cn anyone of you help me finding a suitable supervisor open for a PhD candidate.
