Greetings,

We need to be able to slice a (fairly soft) polymerized film, about 1 cm^2 in area and about 1mm thick, into two halves, with the cut in the film plane. In other words, the target is to have two 1cm^2 area films, each of 0.5mm thickness afterwards. The cut should be fairly precisely in the middle of the film across its area. I though a microtome could do the job, but it seems they are only made for cutting perpendicular, and they are more made for making thin slices, whereas here we just want to divide the sample into the top and bottom halves. We also investigated a microsaw, but in that case it seems the cutting procedure would remove most of the film (about 300 microns would be removed, which is far too much). Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

/Jan
