My sample is an aqueous solution and I observed that the water evaporates during time sweep test(for 2-3 hours). I don´t have a solvent trap equipment, so how can I eliminate evaporation?
To me any rheology experiment this long is not sensible. You could try a low volatility 'sealant' (e.g. silicone oil) around the plates but this may affect the delivered torque. Solvent trap is the recommendation -why don't you want to purchase this? You cannot 'eliminate evaporation' (unless the material is at absolute zero).
@AlanRawle - tracking the aging of gels is common and an important measurement. Don't be too hard.
As AlanRawle says adding a film of oil over the free surface is a good way to reduce evaporation. Low viscosity hydrocarbon oil or vegetable oil are OK too. You can check their contribution to the result by measuring the viscosity of a low viscosity liquid with and without the oil film.
