My colleague and I are having some trouble mounting 70 micrometer mouse brain slices. When we initially position the coverslip over the mounted slices, there are no bubbles but when we come back to coat the edges of the coverslip in nail polish not long after, there are tiny bubbles under the coverslip that prevent us from taking the whole brain images we want to take. We are using Sigma Fluoroshield histology mounting medium.
Does anyone know what we can do to fix this?

I agree with Max Anstötz above. Also we find in our lab using a minimal amount of mounting medium aids in the process (~3 small drops/standard slide). I also found that using a wet coverslip (with xylene or something similar). Helps the slide to adhere without any bubbles.
