Firstly, depend on the solubility of the extract in the water.
You have to prepare different concentration, starting from high conc., the check their activity in order to find the best one.
A stock solution of each plant extracts can be prepared by dissolving 100 mg of extract with one ml of their respective solvents; sterile distilled water and 99.9% dimethyl sulfoxide. i prepared 100 mg/ml of stock solution using 99.9% DMSO. When, I found 99.9% DMSO killed the test bacteria in the broth macrodilution, I diluted the 99.9% DMSO to 2%, and found safe for the growth of bacteria. Would any one tell me how to calculate the concentration of the plant extract when I start with the stock solution and diluted at 2% concentration of DMSO?
