I would like to do a reaction in a - 90 °C condition, how can I make this condition without freezing the reaction mixture by using THF as a solvent? Thanks.
The melting point of methanol is -97C. Add liquid nitrogen to methanol until it becomes very viscous. You will have the temperature of the N2/EtOH bath around -90C. The melting point of THF ia -108 C, you will not freeze your reaction solution.
