TUI is a specialised software provided by big manufacturer as GE company and usually we use this techniques in fetal ultrasound and breast imaging as producing a multi slice of 2D images with specific thickness similar to CT images then you can produce 3D image formate. Regarding 3D printing I do not have knowledge about this.

I would like to understand the steps that the radiologist has to do to get these pictures . The radiologist should lead the ultrasound examination in a specific way ? Radiologist can do a normal ultrasound exam and then process the images ?

After obtaining the ultrasound images from patient as you proceed to get the TUI pictures?

Simple way to take these images by selecting the suitable scan for example the head of the fetus then make the head in the region of the interest then select the TUI option this will automatically generates a series of axial images or coronal one according to your selection.

The file format we use for our Tomosynthesis (X-Ray) is .dcm. It works well with ImageJ and solid works. I believe it is a DICOM standard, so the Ultrasound Tomo data is likely in the same format.

TUI is an advanced ultrasound technique.Not all USG Machines can do. We don't have such facility in our department. You kindly contact specific vendors for details.
