I need to prepare a stable inexpensive liquide to fill up the pores of a porous medium made of transparent glass beads, for PIV measurements. The liquid must be a shear-thinning one. A list of Newtonian liquids is available in Budwing, Exp. in Fluids 1994, and in Hassan and Dominguez, Nucl. Engng and Des., 2008. Does anybody have experience in adding, e.g., Xhantan gum to Potassium Tiocianate or to any other fluid in the lists of the two papers?
