I am simulating the sand casting process of a grey cast iron on ANSYS workbench TRANSIENT THERMAL option but after filling all the necessary property, boundary condition and solution setup, the result in not correct. the result shows the temperature is constant in 1500 seconds? how can i model the simulation based on the attached material? If any one is interested in this area I am waiting for a support.

On cooling a casting tends to attain nearly uniform temperature and room temperature on complete cooling. However, a time of 25 minutes is too short for this to happen. If you are interested in the temperature history, you should ask the program to store the temperatures distribution at various time steps (say after each 5 seconds) during cooling. Also have a second look at the values of thermal conductivity, specific heat, latent heat etc. and the boundary conditions used in the analysis

Ori casting in sand molds should take into account the moisture in the sand mold, the size of the sand. thermal conductivity of the mixture and gas permeability. Natural cooling will depend on the temperature of the molding mixture before pouring. The percentage of sand and clay will have an impact.
You can model the problem according to the process described in the help file. The euteetic freezing of grey cast iron occurs at a constant temperature of 1150 ° C. You should take pouring temperature above this temperature. The mould initial temperature should be properly fixed (may be 200 ° C or room temperature). The general solidification time for (cylinder with 11.40 cm diameter subjected to natural convection) is about 935 s. After eutectic temperature, the cooling of specimen takes place according to newtons law of cooling upto mould initial temperature. After this value you may get constant temperature value. However 1500 seconds is not sufficient to reach room temperature/ initial mould temperature condition. Most of the time people put improper input , material, enthalpy and boundary condition (free or force convection heat transfer coefficient value) and that results into improper result. Proper check of these values is required.
