In ground motion analysis, we have only lumped mass matrix of soil. It is possible to make consistent mass matrix of soil layers?
If you are dealing with rectangular element, the consistent mass matrix is as follows.
(1/2 1/8 1/8 1/4) (1/8 1/2 1/4 1/8) (1/8 1/4 1/2 1/8) (1/4 1/8 1/8 1/2) from the top. Note that total mass is four in this case.
If you want to calculate other element, it is difficult to write there. There are many text on this topic.
