Hi, I made 40% urea broth medium(Biolife Italiana) to find out the presece of helicobacter pylori in gastric biopsy but this medium responds very slowly for positive biopsy (about 2 hours) while this medium has been tested with pure proteus mirabilis bacteria and give a very fast reaction for a few seconds. My question is why this medium don't work quickly on the biopsy sample and what is needed for a rapid reaction?
It can take even 24 h to be positive.
There is many factors involved.
The most important issue is the density of bacteria.
I heard about new kits done it faster but I have never used them.
Any way your comparison is wrong.

Our endoscopy section uses the same urea broth medium (that commercial) and responds faster than my medium. I heard about new kits done it faster too but l can't use it because I bought this medium. I am looking for a solution to reduce the response time...
When the density of H.pylory is under 30 percent, patient use proton pump inhibitors, there was a metaplasia , etc, situation is out of your hand.
Are you working on biopsy or culture?
I want to culture just Biopsies are positive on the basis of urea testing for economic efficiency...
So, in your opinion, is it possible that there is a bacterium but that urea is negative? It's better to culture all biopsies(neg and pos)??
So you use same media used in hospital?
If same sample shows different reaction with your media and hospital,s media, just check with them. Maybe you miss something.
no, media used in hospital different but that now they have finished their media and I forced to used my media. are you advised to culture all biopsies ??
