Dr. Ali, you must be aware that historical Landsat data is available since 1972 onwards. Vinay has mentioned the website that is mostly used to access this data. Just follow his comments. I remember, you asked a similar question 2 years ago regarding Landsat data availability for Yemen. Even then the answer was same: USGS EarthExplorer. Please clarify if this is a different kind of question now.
Yes It is different in the sense that I want to download data on 1:50000 scale. Can you suggest me some website where I can download above mentioned data. I think I have clarified your question. Also I want to purchase data from India.
Dr. Ali, thanks for clarifying. Landsat sensors (MSS, TM, ETM+, OLI/TIRS) data that you download from USGS is already on a Map Scale ranging from 1:240000 to 1:30000 which when translated to spatial resolution is equivalent to 120 meters to 15 meters respectively, according to Tobler's rule. You can then use Resampling tools in GIS Software to get your desired scale of 1:50000. Otherwise, I'm not aware of any website that would let you download Landsat data exactly at 1:50k scale.
Mr. James, thank you for clarifying this. I know if I want to purchase data of Landsat, I can procure it from NRSA, Hyderabad, at any scale and in any date. In the website if I download the data converting 1:50000 scale resolution is very poor. Because you know that resolution 0f MSS and ETM+ is different means resolution of 1980 data and resolution of 2003 data is not same for the Landsat data. I have worked out already about it only wanted know whether is there any website where I can download data directly according my desired scale. Thanks once again for suggestion.
Dr. Ali, thanks for your comments. I did not know that NRSC, Hyderabad is selling free Landsat data for a price. Of course if you convert MSS original scale of 1:120000 (60 m) to 1:50000 (25 m) you will get poor resolution. Similar is the case with ETM+ original scale of 1:60000 (30 m) to 1:50000 (25 m). But I am really curious to know if NRSC is coming up with some new technique to normalize the scales or it is the same old resampling technique which can be carried out by us in a GIS Software. Do you have any links to their pricing catalog?
I think landsat data only purchesble by nrsc if resolution of satellite image is less than 1 meter. you can refer Resourcesat 2 or Liss 3 data set. Amount and Data set information is avilable in NRSC website.
You could visit this site: https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/
Register and then use the cursor or coordinates to identify your area of interest (AOI), set date range, select the type of data set on the tab below (type of image and level of processing you want), set additional criteria (especially the cloud cover percentage) and check your result.
Select your preferred image and click on the download button.
