I have a passion for Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Criminal Behavior and Analysis AND I have a passion to want to teach those who want to learn. Especially to those who already find the realm of Psychology and all of it's offerings fascinating.
I have teaching experience, but I am just getting my credentials to teach (Master's Degree) here in California.
I am doing everything and following the colleges and universities application process to the T, but it seems to be that you need to know someone or have connections just to get an in.
I'm feeling discouraged, but I remain focused on my goal. Anyone out there have some sound advice for a newbie teacher?

Do not be discouraged. In the teaching domain of psychology there are still some traditional ideals. One being, you have to be willing to start as an adjunct. That said, apply for positions such as adjunct, visiting, or temporary. These let colleges or universities know your interested but willing to start at the traditional track. Also, consider online positions as well. I hope this helps.
I connected with the particular college's focus, and started with small, local schools, including community colleges. Although I've not yet completed my PhD, I have been hired by a VERY small 4 year college for one course next fall (-: It happens to be a Christian college, so I highlighted Christian background and activities, but any focus will work, I would think. It's a start, anyway.

Another idea I had was consider teaching at Nursing Schools. They are always looking for instructors to teach Intro to Psych, Developmental Psych, Stats, and Research Methods. That's how I got hired at West Coast University.- Badges
