In south India, particularly in the state of Tamilnadu, you can get information from the Tamilnadu nursing council website on the CNE programmes and credits. You can access the website pasted below for details. Hope it helps.
Most organisations require membership to let you access their CE material. But Medscape.com is a free access site for doctors & nurses that has a CE section that you can access & get certificates for completed education slots.
In Oman there is no established website for the nursing and midwifery council. Its still in the stage of development. Since I worked in Sultan Qaboos University, college of nursing, we attended the Oman medical Speciality Board CME programs for which we get credit points. Pls check the link below which might help you.
Continuing nursing education started as old as from nightingale period. But the exact date when it started is not documented clearly. Each state in India (has 29 states and 7 union territories) has its own nursing council but very few of them have CNE credit regulations. Until recently CNE was not mandatory in India. If a person needs to work in any other state other than origin state, they have to register in the other state to start working. But in Tamilnadu state where I belong to the council has made it mandatory for the CNE. I have sent the website already for you.
Currently I reside in UAE and iam pasting the website for CNE .
On line courses are the future as we all become more mobile and as the internet and associated technology is becoming more available. However most on-line courses are not free! MOOCs are increasingly becoming available and in case people did not know these are Massive Online Open access Courses (free of charge). I have started providing a MOOC in culturally competent compassion (3 weeks long) which is suitable to health and social care professionals. The enrolment process will remain open till the end of the week (the courses started on Monday 20th). I attach a document on how you and others may enrol if interested.
