Hi
Could you please tell me how to fix the larva of insects without putting them in liquid every time?
Actually I want to have them as a board. Is it possible?
in alcohol
About my question on Erasmus+: It's program of student mobilities between European univirsities. So, I'm looking for European univrsities, sorry.
kind regards
Be proud and successful
Alcohol is not a fixative (like formalin) but a preservative.
Insect larvae with soft body must be stored in liquid. Alcohol is commonly used. The addition of glycerin prevent drying.
Larvae with chitinous body can be dried and pinned like adults.
For me, the best results came with using glycol and water in 1:5 ratio.
Thanks for your reminder
How about the resin and work with it?
You can fix freshwater macroinvertebrates with ethanol 90%, and later preserver with ethanol 70%
I've had good results with the same procedure as described Pablo Fierro. Caution with worms, can be deformed in this procedure.
Thx for your answers
