A few months ago it happened to me as well.

Two reviewers suggested minor revisions and one suggested major.After spending two months on the revision and addressing all the issues raised by the reviewer, editor rejected the paper.

You have my sympathy, but editors may publish what they wish, as and when they wish. Those editors/Journals that do not act in good faith (ethically) with authors will find themselves without contributors. Journals cease when there are no submissions... that is the ultimate sanction available to authors.

Think of it this way. The paper has been tidied up ready for submission to other Journals. Thank the editor and reviewers for their contributions. There are many other Journals, find another publisher that will publish the revised paper.

Just to be clear: Editors and reviewers are expected to follow their Publisher's Code of Ethics.

As you can see rejection can come at any stage in the publication process. It is a harsh word but take it to mean what your offered does not fit with what the editor thinks is currently of interest to the readers.

I know these comments won't make you feel any better, but consider your audience again by reviewing your reference list to see who is working in the same area. Use this as a guideline as to where you should be publishing.

Thank you for your time and effort. However, I should admit that many serious and ethical editors do not steal your two years especailly after saying three times that they would print your manuscript. As far as I know, the first thing to do for an editor is to decide whether the manuscript is appropriate or not for his/her journal. And also, the editor of Psychiatria Danubina even wanted ro see the rejection mail, because s/he was also surprised to learn that we were rejected! As far as S/he remembered, they would print it. Of course I forwarded the mail, since then (2 months) no answer!!!

Thank you for answering. I am sorry for you but at least it is only two months. And your editor did not say that they would print it during the process.

I would like to say something about SSCI Journals. I think we are Turks over estimate SSCI Journals. All of them which are publishing cartel and they go after great profit. That is money money. I do not believe them to struggle for science. Especially Turkish science environments and YOK, UAK should be glance to give unnecessary value to SSCI Journals. Thanks.

Thank you for answering my question. I agree with your opinion. However, Psychiatria Danubina Journal does not charge anything and if you check, they print Turkish researchers' papers regularly in each issue. That is why we chose that journal. Thanks a lot.

I encounter similar issue. I wonder if we want to report the case. Whom we send our complaint? Which authority is involved in these types of problems "Being deceived by the journal"?

I do not know anywhere for complaint a journal and unfortunately as authors we are lonely. Only if there is ethic issues for example plagiarism, salami cyling etc. ethic commission of high education in Turkey but international I have no idea.

Hi Meltem, Very pleased with this outcome for you. Often it is just the mix of papers considered for a particular issue that sees one apparently overlooked. Hence the importance of persisting. Well done.

Hi Meltem,

I have got a similar problem with predatory journal, and went many places to complain but no use! looks like the internet land of double face judgement. Before you publish take some time to think where you put your work. I have blocked many journals come to me to avoid their troubles even never accept to review any paper from them.

Dear one, That was just few months of torture. We have an editor from Annals of Tropical Medicine and Public Health who has not published the manuscript after two years of acceptance and having paid the publication charges two years ago. False assurances of publishing continues in communications. It has been a harassment.

I have the same problem with Psychiatria Danubina. I´m waiting for a year to hear from them!
