The DTPA extraction method by Norvell (1978) is commonly used for evaluating soil fertility status in respect to micro-nutrients cations, i. e. Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu. The universal soil test for alkaline soils (AB-DTPA) is equally effective for determining micro-nutrient cations including Zn in alkaline soils.
Dr.Yadav,I wish to further add or supplement to Dr.Tarafdar's pertinent comments. One more multinutrient or univeral soil test which can be used for Zn is Mehlich3(Mehlich,1984) which can be used in acid to neutral soils. For Zinc fractionation we used a sequestional extraction procedure. The following paper gives the details of the method.
