You can use solvent partitioning to obtain valerenic acid fraction. First dissolve your extract in water to obtain aqueous extract. Then use n- hexane or pet ether to defat. Now since valerenic acids are soluble in chloroform, use this organic solvent to partition several times and pool the fractions together and concentrate in rotary evaporator to obtain valerenic acid enriched fraction.
