An independent variable is mediated (X) by two mediating variables (M1 and M2) on a dependent variable (Y). The bootstrap results (AMOS-SEM) are as follows:

                                    Point Estimates    Std Error    L.B   U.B      p-value

Direct path

X-->M1                              .71                        .04        .63     .79      .001

M1-->Y                              .20                       .08         .03     .35      .001

X-->M2                              .16                        .05        .07     .25      .002

M2-->Y                             -.30                        .08      -.46    -.14      .002

Total Indirect Effect           .10                        06       -.03    .22     .139

Please help me to explain why the total indirect effect is insignificant when both the paths are separately significant. Even if the opposite directs are the reasons but the indirect mediating effect of X-->M1-->Y is greater (+.14) as compare to an indirect mediating effect of X-->M2-->Y.(-.05). How will I establish a conclusion in this respect? Kindly suggest.
