i. Determine poverty/wealthiness of each of landholders in a village (you may use ranks, annual income per capita or some other measure of poverty).
2. Give rank, if already not assigned earlier, to every landholder.
3. Attach this file of ranks with the respective plot or plots of landholders. The plots might have already been assigned code or name of the plots.
4. Determine a composite index of degradation based on mufti-criteria of degradation.
5. Give rank to every plot.
6. Superimpose the two layers of ranks of plots per poverty level of their owners and that of ranks of level of land degradation.
7. Either use statistical methods of Court's Map Comparison or Kappa. both will indicate level of relationship.
8. However, it is advisable in both the cases ranks may be reduced in the two layers either to 4 or 8 classes.
